Insect Shield is an insect repellent technology that is applied to clothing. Insect Shield infuses the clothing fabric with permethrin, a chemical that has DEET-like bug-repellent qualities.
Insect Shield is the first bug-repellent clothing technology registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is the most widely used technology behind many bug-repellent clothing and companies, being used by more than 50 brands.
Insect Shield can be used to protect against ticks, which are carriers of Lyme Disease. It is recommended that the shirt be tucked into the pants and the socks into the shoes in addition to using clothing that has been treated with Insect Shield. Insect Shield also offers protection from mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers, and midges.
Insect Shield typically lasts for 70 washes.
